Astatine 211 is an alpha emitter with a half-life of 7.2 hours. This isotope can be produced reliably and reproducibly by bombarding bismuth209  with 28 MeV alpha particles from a cyclotron: Process For Isolation And Radiolabeling Of Pharmaceuticals With Isotopes Of Astatine (1991).

Astatine 211 can be  obtained by solvent extraction: Method For Producing Astatine (2019). The extraction processes can be automated: Process For Isolation And Purification Of Astatine-211 (2016).

At 211 is incorporated in radiopharmaceuticals for treating cancer, directly in situ Process For Isolation And Radiolabeling Of Pharmaceuticals With Isotopes Of Astatine (1991), or by  incorporating with silver coated protein particles: Method for the radio-chemical marking of protein particles with astatine (1986).
