(source: https://www.rsc.org/periodic-table/element/54/xenon) Xenon is used in certain specialised light sources. It produces a beautiful blue glow when excited by an electrical discharge (Xenon lamp (1972)). Xenon lamps have applications as high-speed electronic flash bulbs used by photographers (Xenon Flash Tube With Internal Reflector (1973)), sunbed lamps (Sunlamp with xenon radiators – has filters to remove infrared radiation, attached to reflectors (1975)), and sterilising lamps (Device for disinfecting water comprising a UV-C gas discharge lamp (2002)). Xenon lamps are also used in ruby lasers (Krypton-Xenon Flash Tube For Pumping A Ruby Laser (1969)).Xenon difluoride is used to etch silicon wafers (Method of removing a sacrificial portion of a functional micro device by etching with xenon difluoride (2004)).
